I have IDC, SilkyPix, Capture One, DxO, LR and CS4 and I still tend to use LR just cause it is so much easier to use other than the fact that it tends to mess with the exposure of the RAW files when imported.

also seems like the a550 FW is not official yet since the DPR test unit states Preview based on a pre-production DSLR A550 (Firmware V0.9)

BUT - just try ACR 5.5! I have been using it for a day. It's giving me much better results than ACR 5.4 with the 900 and 700. Noise is less prominent and white balance is improved with the change in colour readout. David DO you know how to get LightRoom to use ACR 5.5? I installed it yesterday and ...

You are right about IDC, it has some kind of odd "edge enhancement" even if sharpening is set to the lowest possible setting, one area I noticed fairly quickly. this is what it does to me even with 0 sharpening on the RAW file..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/elishajesudason/_D...

are you using IDC to convert the RAW?
if so IDC gives me the penciled outline in high key images all the time.

the a200 is at 1/10 and the 5D is at 1/5. try with the same shutter speed and i bet it will be closer.
