Re: Weather Today-In Your Vicinity/2017

Last week it was bitter cold and we had snow. Today it's 64F/18C in St. Louis. Friday will be freezing rain/sleet.

As we always say here, don't like the weather? Stick around a few hours, it'll change!

Re: KM Maxxum/Dynax/Alpha 7D jpegs

I just might have to dust off the old film cameras and teach my kids what real photography is!

Glad I didn't throw out the darkroom equipment yet! I wonder if my old, unopened, E-6 processing kit is still good? ;)

Re: Creating a Memory

Pako, Welcome to US citizenship! No, I didn't hesitate. I supported Ted Cruz in the primary, and have some reservation on Mr. Trump, but, from my perspective, Hillary was totally unacceptable. We are just 180 on too many issues, and the people of my state, knowing all that everyone knew prior to the...

Re: From a recent trip to NYC

Sury, I'm not one to live in cities. I can stand the suburbs, where at least we have yards, for playing and gardens, but I really want to live in the country, where I have acres of yard! Where I am now I have a very large, 3/4 acre, yard, but that's unusual. Not that I don't love it! But I can still...

Re: From a recent trip to NYC

Nice captures, Sury. I hope you enjoyed your trip to the Big Rotten Apple!

I've been there a couple of times, and while interesting to visit, I wonder why so many people suffer all the crowding, crime and misery for the few good things that are there!

Great shots, Jeff. It's a bit warmer there than Wyoming, eh?

Re: Creating a Memory

Thanks, guys!

I hope to get some good shots at the Inaugural, as the Electors are invited (and, I understand, get good seats!), but there are so many restriction - no camera bags, etc, that it means one camera and one additional lens in a pocket.

Re: KM Maxxum/Dynax/Alpha 7D jpegs

Reading through this thread reminds me of the debates we used to have on which film to use in which situation. There were even (and still are) specialized film for various situations. With digital, it's not too hard to make those adjustments if shooting RAW, and there are even add-ons that give you ...

Creating a Memory

Most of you are not from the US, and even many here in the States don't understand our Electoral College system. Based loosely on the system of Electors for the Holy Roman Emperor (Queen Elizabeth is of the line of the Elector of Hanover), it was designed to balance the sovereignty of the people wit...

Re: A trip in the Andes

Dusty, I'm not sure. When I told him your story, he thought perhaps you had worked with his dad or brother in Brazil. I think his Dad's name was Bob Rich. I can't remember his brother's name. This guy worked with your Bob R. for many years here in Peru. Bob Rich was "the other Bob" I met ...

Wonderful shot, Birma!

Fall is not coming to the Midwest this year. Today it's 70F/21C, but it does promise to get down to 55F/13C by Saturday. They're predicting the first frost Thanksgiving Night (Nov 24th).

Re: A trip in the Andes

...The taller guy in the poncho is actually a US citizen, but he's lived in South America for around 65 years, being in Peru for almost 50. Is he anyone I know? When I went to some of the remote mountain villages w/ Bob R., we stopped in at a hot springs on the way home. It was quite interesting. E...
