Re: The 550 is dead?
I love reading all these rumours! At least you will all find out fairly soon whether or not you are right and I think some of you will be pleasantly surprised...

Re: NEX purchase - a difficult decision
Had a play with both the 3 and 5 last week and I really like the 5. The 3 just didn't feel right as the body is too light and so the weight of a larger lens on the front would be really odd. A few other comments that I would like to make are: Adaptors screwed on the front of the 16mm will not regist...

Re: Sony and The Future
Actually that article says the 850 is aimed at 700 users wanting to move up to full frame. At no point does it say that the 850 is a replacement for the 700.Old Hydro wrote:The a850 is the replacement. Read this:

Some Shots From My Holiday
I watched the sunset from our beach house every night for 2 weeks waiting for the best light and finally got a couple of shots (taken with the 18200 on A700): http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2641/3775151455_61ffcb9e0a_b.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2646/3776415738_4ace3da568_b.jpg Anyone else w...

Re: A380 330 230 details on Sony sites
Had a quick play with the 230 and 380 last night. Very light to hold - almost too light for a SLR - and very definitely aimed at the new users (the in camera tuition is quite clever)

Re: A good investment
Alpha branding rules state that only black and cinnabar can be used - shame that as some things would also work well in other colours.Dr. Harout wrote:I have one of those too, and am quite comfortable with it, specially when I'm just with one lens. But I wonder, why is Sony making only black ones?

Re: T.O.P and the Sony A900
However, it seems to me (as a mere ham) that Sony now needs to populate its lens catalogue if it is really going to take on Nikon. Nice to read, nevertheless. They obvioulsy don't think this in Poland where Sony now has 40% of the DSLR market - way ahead of Nikon! Still a way to go in other countri...

Another picture from the trees outside my house. This is just a baby tree compared to the others as it was planted by my neighbour last year (that is the trunk of the tree in the shot and not a branch):

Re: My First Published Picture
This was actually taken last spring with the 18-200 kit lens at 200mm, f6.3 and ISO400. It was a windy day and I think that I spend about 30 minutes before I got a couple of shots where the branch wasn't moving.

OK so it isn't quite the same as being Director of PIFL, but I had this picture published in Digital Photographer magazine (http://www.dphotographer.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - although you won't find the picture online) last week: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/32...

Taken by Alonso Diaz who was one of the "interviewees" on the Sony stand at the Focus On Imaging show a few weeks back. I think the results are quite good - I know that DK has expressed reservations about the lens in the past.

Did you happen to catch Alonso Diaz on the stand (don't want to be seen to be blowing my own trumpet but he was my discovery)?

Re: High ISO Question For Sonolta
Thanks for the reply - I did wonder if it was due to needing a fast shutter speed to get DOF right (also useful if subjects are moving). Last Spring I spent a long time trying to get this shot without too much movement (took more than 100 attempts) but at the time hadn't thought of moving to a highe...
