I used the 70-300G and it was decent but not great. It was better to handle than the 70-400 but the IQ wasn't as good.
The 80-200 always got good reports.

...and they wonder why people like me give up and defect to the dark side....
I see the prices of the E mount stuff and it's quite scary. Not a system I am interested in but some nice features.

Re: A mount s/h lens prices have "bombed"
As you can see from my for sale post, quite a few of my lenses were secondhand. All were reasonably priced at the time but yes I can see recently they are worth less than I would otherwise expect. A great time to experiment then :) In my A mount era, I bought the following (Minolta, KM or Sony) seco...

Re: AfterShot Pro and Lightroom
I know a lot of people are relying on cloud based storage but I'm not a fan. Our broadband is poor and I can't even get a mobile phone signal at my house let alone 3G or 4G so for me, relying on good data transfer speeds for hundreds if not thousands of files just does not interest me. Wonderful for...

Re: Bought a Dell U2415 monitor
Just discovered that it's a U2515. I have the monitor plugged into the laptop HDMI port. As far as I can remember I just right click the desktop and pick Display Settings. I set screen 1 as the laptop and 2 as the monitor. Might have clicked a few things but I just fiddled till I got what I wanted, ...

Re: Bought a Dell U2415 monitor
Think that's the same model I bought. I'm very happy with it. I use it dual screen with the laptop so I can view the photo folders on the laptop and LR on the monitor.

Re: Over warm pictures
Overall, I liked the Sony images other than being a little flat and found the raw files easy to adjust to my liking. The Nikon ones are sometimes more difficult to edit especially in overcast conditions.
To simulate Sony colours I usually need to warm up a bit.

Re: Loch Duich
Dr Harout, for me Andy shows off the north west area very well, it is our favourite area of Scotland. If you ever get the opportunity try to avoid the summer as the whole area is invaded by trillions of small biting insects called midge. They make life a misery. Easter is a good time to go to avoid ...

It is!
I need to mull it over but gut feeling is not for me at that price. Mind you the 5D4 pricing is outrageous, for once Sony can legitimately laugh.

Re: Cards on the table....
The_hefay, Your last line echo's mine, I'd have it if someone gifted it to me :). We should be so lucky. I have a mix of FF and APS-C lenses but have recently offloaded a few of both. Given the spec of the A99II there is plenty room for an A88 :) Andy, yes I did think there was a 50-50 chance the mi...

Cards on the table....
So here we are post Photokina. In the last month or so we've seen the launch of the Canon 5DMk4 and Sony A99Mk2. Personally I'm not a Canon fan though millions clearly are including the majority of my aviation friends but I'm just not keen on them. Sony have thrown a pretty big punch as expected wit...

Re: A99 11
Well I'm glad to see the Sony commitment to A mount and something which seems to major on the shooting. I'm with Barry, don't need WiFi but would miss the GPS. I appreciate the knowledge transfer on ibis but yes I also cringe at the cost. Just too much for me, I won't be buying this until maybe 3 ye...
