Gettysburg

Drove through this historic place on the way home from a golf tournament. I could actually feel the history. Taken with the a900 and the Minolta 28-70mm 2.8 G (old faithful). http://www.pbase.com/jstaylor/image/135982372.jpg http://www.pbase.com/jstaylor/image/135982394.jpg http://www.pbase.com/jsta...

Re: Suburban Renewal

Thanks for the comments folks. Juanito200- the door shot was begging to be taken. Right place. Right time. I agree with you comment about taste and you will see in one of the shots below, I used a standard landscape technique to emphasize just that point. Greg- yes. The street that fronts the base i...

Suburban Renewal

One of the advantages of always carrying the camera is that you can photograph anything at any time. Such is the case near my residence. Living near a military base that is going on it's 8th decade of existence means that surrounding buildings tend to be old and dilapidated. The base has been given ...

Re: The U.S. Open

Thanks Birma. This is one of the few times where the reach of the camera brought me into the moment. Maybe that is what happens if you shoot enough.

The U.S. Open

A good friend of mine attempted to qualify for the national championship of American golf a few days ago. It is an arduous task for any golfer much less the amateur. Ten spots were available out of a field of some 120 golfers each playing 36 holes (walking). I was fortunate enough to get some shots ...

Re: Carnival Shots

Two solutions to every problem are
1. Play more golf, and
2. Take more pictures.

Re: Carnival Shots

Thanks Greg and Birma. That unknown factor is why I like taking and looking at these images. In some sense it is planned (composition) but the long shutter speed gives a great number of options for the end result. Others tell me what these shapes remind them of. I don't see it but am glad they do. L...

#2 is my favorite as well Doc. Thanks.
As for #4, I could not resist the irony. Thanks for noticing Juanito200.
Always good to get a nod from you Yildiz.

Carnival Shots

Sorry for this but I just love the handheld, motion blurred shots of carnival rides. Move to the next thread if we are not of like minds. a900 and 85mm 1.4 ZA. http://www.pbase.com/jstaylor/image/135006102.jpg http://www.pbase.com/jstaylor/image/135008358.jpg http://www.pbase.com/jstaylor/image/1350...

Unusually calm water for mid-day.
A wonderful shot though. Hypnotic.
