What do you think of a feature like this:
Semi-auto micro AF adjust (SAMAFA):
You setup a camera on a stand, select SAMAFA from the menu, acquire AF lock on target. You then enable MF live view (like on A5xx bodies), the camera makes note of the AF settings, lens ID, focal range, F and distance reported by lens, while in MF live view mode you can fine tune the focus, then when you press the shutter release. The camera makes note of the changes you made to the focus and combines it with the readings it acquired from AF and works out the micro focus adjustments needed correct the focus at that F/focal length/distance and save the settings into a table/s. you can then change focal length and/or distance , repeat the process.
Can anyone follow what I’m trying to say Would something like this be more flexible than just manual micro AF adjust?
Just some thoughts on a slow Friday afternoon at work

Actually, that's a really slick idea, and there's no reason why somebody couldn't build up their own intensive databases, mapping out the AF corrections of their lenses where ever they can squeeze in new data. Of course, the database would be quite large by current standards of this sort of thing. Consider the following formula:
L x D x S = T
L = focal length
D = focus distance
S = serial number of the optic used
T = total number of AF adjustment values
L x D x S = T
L = focal length
D = focus distance
S = serial number of the optic used
T = total number of AF adjustment values

In a similar veign I was wondering if you could just take selected parts of the CCD image
(once you have live view the data must be available) and use some contrast measure
to fine tune the focus.
