GPS?

Unread post by cosmonaut1959 »

The a77 has a GPS. I guess you all know that, with that said. Is the GPS a big drain on the battery? I know my cellphone battery drops like a rock when I use Google maps. Also is the GPS info only visable with the Sony software or will it come up in Lightroom and PS?
I am probably going to pick up a battery grip so it may be a non issue but still I would like to know?

I think GPS data is embedded in EXIF

The GPS appears in the imbedded metedata. Clicking it in LightRoom takes you to the spot in Google Maps. The impression is that it uses more battery, but so far its not a real problem.

My cell phone has a GPS in it. Smaller battery and it doesn't seem to draw much power. I wouldn't stress over it...

Well I know the a77s battery doesn't seem to last as some if had before. I see it in Light room now. Cool.
