Backwards compatibility

Unread post by Argonaut »

Are the current 42AM and 56AM flashes compatible with the old KM 5D and if so, to what degree? Eventually I'm going to get an alpha model, but it would be nice if the flash could work on both cameras.

Thanks in advance - Argonaut

Both flashes are fully (the camera is the limiting factor: no controller, no Ratio...) compatible with the 5D.

Thank you Pako - now I just have to get up the nerve to pay for one.

It would take real nerve to pay for the F42--the F56 is a no-brainer investment. The F56 will give you more control plus ports for TTL cords and an external power supply. Not to mention that the F56 is still the most powerful Alpha flash ever.
