Building my bounce card ... what height?!

Ok, after i saw some DIY i decided to go and my own bounce card.

The problem is that, i would like to know what height should i make it ... is this basically an "eye measurement" without any specific sizes, or are there any default sizes to guide me?

I'm using an A4 paper sheet ... with 1 A4 paper sheet i should be able to do 2 bounce cards right? Or can i have a A4 sized bounce card?

there is a project like this on Alphastrobist. looks like 45mm beyond the edge of the flash is what he's used.
