New compact flash...

Unread post by bfitzgerald »

Looks quite good reasonable power, LED light built in, rotation and bounce can be used off camera S1/S2 modes, price seems quite reasonable too

OK, this is an 80 $ flash.
But the flash that is impressive is the Nissin i40 (about 250 $ retail...)

The link doesn't show me a price, in the price field it says USD. I guess they don't have a dollar figure on it as of yet.

The Nissin looks good but IMO it's a bit expensive for what's on offer it is fully featured and I like the dial controls and the idea of a compact body but still decent power. For £100 yes at £150 no too pricey

Well, the Nissin i40 support TTL, manual, Wireless AND A mode, You can rotate the head and bounce the flash. And it is a guide number 27 at 35mm (40 at 105 mm). And all this on a really compact package.
I don't find it overpriced at all!

Nissin have tried to go upmarket a bit the flash looks good it's still a compact flash with no LCD that's my take it's hard to get hold of their bigger flashes for Sony
The first flash I mentioned doesn't have HSS that can matter but at that price not really could be handy as a back up flash. Nissin Di700A might come to Sony that has most of what you want more power, HSS, wireless and built in radio I'd take a look at one if it turned up over the i40 I think that's more for CSC users than SLR ones.
