New Orleans, LA, USA

Unread post by sury »

In the end of September, went on a mini vacation with a childhood friend of mine (45 years of friendship and still going strong),
to New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

At an intersection with the famous Bourbon street.

Thanks for sharing, Sury. :)

The hotel and other captures are revealing nicely of daily life in New Orleans but I especially loved the authenticity in the latest street band/musician photos. So James Brown...or Ray Charles scenes.

The transformation of the Bourbon street from day to night is staggering. Street with musicians playing for tips during day time, and total and utter bacchanalia at night time. Unfortunately, I did not capture the night time since I did not have my camera with me the night before visit.

.

Neat shots, Sury.

That Sousaphone is a monster of a brass instrument. It must be very old with those partly taped or peeled-paint surfaces. I had to look up how it actually functions and is played. Impressive photos of New Orleans streets by day. :)

Thank you Valery, JT and Yildiz.
In the following shot, my timing was off. There were two teenagers (around 13 may be) playing percussion
on plastic containers. At the bottom right corner. A snippet of street life.

At the oft photographed landmark of Bourbon street. Missus and me. Sunshade on my cap and photography are mutually incompatible
forcing me to wear it backwards. :)
