Lake / Swampy Area

Unread post by kysham »

Here are a few shots from a trip to the outskirts of town. Went to a goat farm which is about 45 minutes away from Kota Kinabalu to visit a friend. On the way back, came across this rather scenic lake / swamp area and decided to stop the car for a few shots.

#1 There is a nice slanting tree that gives a good feature to the shot.
Image

#2 A variation on same shot, with different angle & focal length.
Image

#3 A B&W conversion. The tree looks too good not to do a B&W treatment...

Thanks for viewing. :D

Ooh, very interesting compositions! I really like that second image with the very subdued, natural colors. Very nice!

Kysham, wonderful second shot. First class light and composition (sun reflection included!). Congratulations.

P.S.: According to the EXIF data, both (colour) pictures were taken at the same focal length (11mm). As usual with ultra wide-angles, a slight change in the point of view has brought about a profound effect on the composition.
(I like also very much your black and white photo, but know nothing about black and white.)

I like the second shot too. though all shots give a kind of cool and misty look, hiding a secret...
Well done (I mean stopping the car  )

I really like the look and feel oof all three of these images...the sky, water, distant background, and nearby foliage are all beautiful. However, for me, the foreground tree trunk is a major distraction.

I hope you go back. It's a beautiful place.

Thanks everyone for your kind words of support. This really spurs me on to take better photos the next time around. This is indeed a very nice place to take photos. Hope to visit this mystic place again in the future for more photographic opportunities. :D

Top shots, I like the first one the most. I refer more of the foreshore reflecting in the lake rather then the sun :)

The first two are very nice, the B&W lacks some contrast and depth (blackness), at least for my taste.
Keep up the good work Kysham!
