Incredible...

Historic wall and this afternoon's fresh snow blending in to make 'today's' scene...unique moment.

For us in Britain, this winter means the calendar photo market will have a huge volume of excellent winter shots to choose for the first time in the digital era -= no exaggeration. Every county or town needs to have its own snow scenes, and the last time many places got the right kind of snow plus sunshine was back when film was used. This month, almost everywhere has had snow on trees (not melting straight away), just the right depth for walls, fences, houses - just the right amount of landscape visible (plain white is not right!).

I have not even tried to get out to do local landscapes, I don't really have the right kind of car any more. Used to have Land Rover Safari, then a big Jeep Cherokee, then a couple of 4x4 saloons - now we just have a small Mercedes A140, it's actually pretty sure footed on ice or wet roads, but it's not heavy enough to get out of snow. Also, dozens of other photographers will have been out to the locations I would have picked.

Paul, I hope you're filing all this stuff with Alamy or Fotolibra or another agency/portal. We may not get another year like this for a few years and the pix will provide calendars and winter magazine covers for years to come.

Snow is rare in south Sweden these days.

But we got some white snow these last few days, so I wanted to try to capture some crystals. I'm realativly happy with these..one problem though, I shot with ISO800 on the A100!

These were pretty small sized snowflakes, around 3-5mm in diameter, they have been on the ground since last night so they werent very packed.





At least we have proper snowploughs.

I like the first one fastson.

The fine outline of refraction/reflection caused by the light on the flake's contours makes it look even more fragile than it already is. I think you have a nice frame there especially for being monochrone with good contrast.

Good work with the A100.

In February I flew to Sapporo from Okinawa where we were spending part of the winter in order to spend a few days at the annual Yuki Matsuri (Snow Festival). It was great! I have already made hotel reservations for next year to go again. I have some photos in the

Taken with an Olympus -E30. It's a reflection of my pinball machine in the conservatory window. Also, you can see the snow outside.



This was taken in Yosemite with my Minolta XM. No idea of lens, aperture, f-stop or ISO.
