I met this Los Angeles man, his girlfriend, and his buddy in the lobby of a big hotel/casino in Las Vegas on Christmas Eve last month. I spent over 30 minutes talking to them. The 2 guys were these days celebrity photographers, probably sort of paparazzi, had been roadies for several famous bands over the years, and this guy had been a guitarist and backup singer for the Edgar Winter Group on a tour of Japan back in the early '90s. From some of the stuff they told me I was thinking maybe it was part or all untrue, but then one of them wanted to show me some photos on his iphone. Lots of photos of famous singers, musicians, actors, etc. and many of them were together with these 2 guys. Anyway, they were very interesting. :) I took these 2 photos of the more flamboyant one. Photos in available light with Canon S95.

I didn't even notice what his hand tattoo was until I downloaded the photos to my computer. He had lots of tattoos, piercings, rings, etc. An interesting guy.

Great pictures from everyone. Little cameras continue to get in to the most interesting places :)

We spent almost 3 weeks up in Sapporo for the annual Yuki Matsuri (Snow Festival) and also to hang around for another couple of weeks in Snow Country. Here are 3 photos I took out the window of the airliner when we were arriving at Shin-Chitose airport near Sapporo a few weeks ago. Canon S95 shooting jpegs. When we left a few days ago there was a lot more snow.

They almost look like pencil sketches.

There is an austere beauty to those landscapes, Henry. Sury is right that they don't immediately look like photographs.

Glad to see the S95 still going strong!

Thanks for the kind comments. As you can see it was a dull afternoon when we were landing with overcast skies and an almost monochromatic landscape. As I took the photos I knew that I would convert them to B&W in LR and the result would be something like this. The leafless trees, roads, solar panels, and streams looked so intriguing against the white of the snow.

I recently purchased a few Beatles CD's. Revolver was one of them. The stark contrast of the CD cover flashed in my mind as soon as I saw your images.
