Love the details on its antennae Andy. That bokeh is an
icing on top.

Thank you DK and Sury
I was lucky that this particular chap was just waking up and needed to soak up some of the early sunshine before he could get going. He was good enough to let me plant the tripod, adjust the geared head, and then manual focus. His patience ran out when I tired to reposition to get even closer.

Re: Insects...
That’s breaking new ground Birma shooting butterflies on flowers with a 70-400 zoom and then getting such a good result after cropping as well, who needs a macro lens anyway? Nice work.

Ps I might be missing for a while, I need to attend to some stuff.

Great shots, Richard. Like little bejewelled dragons in the garden

Wow, nice dragonfly shots. Very colorful. Here's the sentry on my front porch.

Re: Insects...
This is only the second one of these I've seen around here. I believe it's a swallow tail butterfly.

Re: Insects...
Thanks Sury. No stacking. It was just a single photo.
Re: Insects...
The sentry looks suitably serious, the_hefay, I wouldn't want to mess with him/her
Nice colours in the butterfly shot. That swallow tail is a beauty

Re: Insects...
Thanks Birma. Funny thing about that spider is that he was on the front porch and 10 minutes later I spotted his twin on the back door. They were out in full force today.
Re: Insects...
This is a very small yellow spider hiding out on my golden rod.
