More Fogo Island Fisheye Landscapes!

Unread post by camperbc »

I suppose it is no secret that the Samyang 8mm f/3.5 fisheye is currently my favourite lens for my Fogo Island landscapes! Here are some more un-fishy fisheye captures, taken over the past two days near my house in Island Harbour. (none have been defished)

The icebergs have finally arrived! They are normally around in June and July, but they just started showing up in the past couple of days. I will post some next time.

(these were all taken with my A550)

Great colours Glen, and of course lovely views - I especially like the clear rock pool in #1.

Hi Dr. Harout,

You are going to love this lens! Be sure to perform the required focus calibration when you get it; for some unknown reason, these lenses are not calibrated at the factory in Korea. Also, keep in mind that the Samyang 8mm fisheye is rebranded under MANY different names, yet all are identical, so it is just a matter of buying the least expensive one. Some of the brand names are Rokinon, Bower, Opteka, Vivitar, Falcon, Walimex, Polar, Pro-Optic, and of course Samyang, to name a few! (Mine is Rokinon, for $269)

For simple instructions for calibrating the lens, read my article on my website. ( http://www.focusonnewfoundland.com/section488880.html )

Below is a few more fisheye captures for you; taken just steps from our home in the tiny seaside fishing community of Island Harbour, on the west side of Fogo Island. I am looking forward to soon seeing some of your fisheye photos!

Glen
