Some more. Forgot to note that I've seen none of these birds in the wild before, so it was a pretty special holiday in that way

Common Raven (Corvus Corax)

This lone raven was waiting for a meal on more than 2400 meters high in the mountains.



Common Kestrel of Canarian subspecies (Falco tinnunculus canariensis)



Not the best image. Had to PP heavily to get some detail out of it. It's an interesting moment though as you can see it's prey in it's claws.



Red-billed chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax)

Again not great, lot of PP again, but it is a remarkable crow. There was a large group on the island. Impressive animal, especially because it's larger than a common crow and in large numbers, it's a pretty awesome sight!

Compared to the number and variety of birds I see in Istanbul, it looks like the birds are actually finding their way to you so you can photograph them so neatly... You might have a secret bird code only visible and identifiable by the feathered beauties. : ))

I didn't even see a pigeon lately.

Welp, time to wrap up my Tanzania trip with the last three birds of the trip. The Spotted Flycatcher made up for its, um, subtle brown color, by sticking fearlessly close to the bar at our tent camp. Sigma 400, f8, 1/320, ISO 800.

The Red-fronted Tinkerbird was one of those happy accidents where you are desperately trying to get close to a very small bird in the undergrowth, and the vegetation becomes an important part of the photo. Sigma 400, f8, 1/2500, ISO 1600.

The Long-crested Eagle perched 150 feet away from our tent, with the tree branch swaying in the wind and a bright sky behind a very dark. bird. This is why we shoot RAW - couldn't have made enough adjustments on a jpg. Sigma 400, f8, 1/1000, ISO 1600.

Great shots Argonaut . Love that Tinkerbird! The Tanzania trip has been a real education in African species. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I went out for a short walk today and found this Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) sitting on the drain pipe at the far end of a little ditch, just across the street. It kept posing for me as I gently approached it. Most of the time these creatures are quite easily spooked. This one wasn't, lucky me
