Nice weed flower, Gio. : )

My Anthurium has grown two full-heart shaped flowers. Just thought I'd shoot them before the next round of flower growth. : ) Home grown I'm afraid. I should shoot some garden flowers too sometime.

Thanks for the kind comments, Sury and Birma. : ))

Lovely Alaskan flowers, Sury. I especially love thewhite Lilac. Never seen one before. I'm quite used to the type with purple flowers which has a great fragrance.

The lighting so nice in Alaska that the flowers are looking very vibrant with no loss by any unwanted highlights or dark contrasts.

Thanks for sharing,

Yildiz

That’s a pretty little ‘weed’ gio67, and a nice artsy rendition of your alien plant Yildiz, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one before, cool. :D
Very pretty flower collection from Fairbanks Sury.

Thank you Greg and Yildiz.
Yildiz,
Unwanted dark contrasts!!! I was familiar with unwanted highlights on the flowers (e.g. blown highlight)
but never realized there is a such a thing called unwanted dark contrasts. Thank you Yildiz, for pointing out (in a complimentary way).
I have learned something new and something to keep in mind. First, hit the books to learn what it means to have that unwanted dark contrast.
Does it mean severely underexposed causing some loss of details?

With best regards,
Sury

Sort of... :D Don't know if you'll find anything under the search for a term like 'unwanted contrast" though. You're pretty close to what I meant; sometimes
the image has so many dark areas because of the light conditions that only a little portion of the photo's subjects are visible in the frame. Your shots from Alaska show an even lighting from all directions which light the subjects/flowers with smooth transitions to shadowy parts...which I complemented. Especially the last one of the flowers in the two pots is clearly a good example of what I meant. : ) The colours are vibrant under the clear light and no hard shadows that lose details.

Hi Greg, : )

Thank you.
'Alien'.... : ) Yes, it has an alien look.
I always likened the Anthurium flowers to Captain James T. Kirk's Starship USS Enterprise from Star Trek...only Anthurium flower is in pink or red, down side up and comes with no metallic parts. :D It has a look that it wants to fly away like a butterfly too...and looks even cuter in real life. : )
I always check on it before I start my day...

Yildiz

Yildiz,
Thank you for pointing that one out for me. Now I know one more thing to look out for, when shooting flowers
and other things too. Thank you for the compliments and grateful for the lesson. :)

Hi Sury - I think that first, tall purple one, is called Rose Bay Willow Herb (what a mouth full!) here in the UK, and according to Google "Fireweed" in the USA. It grows a lot by the sides of roads here, there are wonderful swathes of it by the M74 when you drive to the West coast of Scotland at this time of year. (Sadly no trips planned that way for me.)

Thank you. I did not know that. That one was on the road side, as it happened.

Hi Sury, :D

Now you're really making me feel humble... : ) I was merely pointing out why your latest flower shots were standing out because of the extraordinary lighting conditions of the Arctic region.

Thanks for the generous thoughts. I'd never even think of calling it a 'lesson'. : ) Just 'too nice flowers', that's all.

Oh dear, a change of scenery demanded or do small people want something different?
With our weather some overseas sun might be in demand.

We're going to the St Andrews area in late Sept and the Durness area in April (wellies and waterproofs packed!).

Hi Mike, it's just an unfortunate combination of work committments and having to now conform to school holidays. On the plus side, as Skye is where "Granny" lives, it is still a Nirvana destination to our small person :) .
