Birma, I see what you mean. Both John and Dennis have the same effect. I will try to dial down the aperture try them again. I was struggling with over powering of flash so I went up to f22, the lowest I can get. May be try it during day light or diffuse the flash and try at wider aperture. Thanks guys- I wanted to go out again today, but the clouds have rolled in, so maybe tomorrow I can get some more shots of the bluebonnets. Sury- I almost always shoot flowers (and I don't do it that often) wide open, or maybe 1 stop down. I'm not brave enough to try flash, at least not in the wild.  John

On holiday on the Isle of Skye  . The break from work is very welcome, as is the chance to get out with the camera again. Some spring flowers from the garden.
