At this time of year it is hard for me to resist the temptation of trying to catch the winter migrant geese flying across the full moon. With a winter storm approaching, I was hoping for a trifecta of the geese flying against a background of the moon and a frame-filling expanse of moonlit clouds. I wasn't that lucky, and this is what I got. All shots were made with a Sony A99, focus tracking, and a Minolta 600mm f/4 on a heavy tripod with a gimbal head. Note the relatively high ISO's.
1. ISO 3200, f/4, 1/1500th
2. ISO 12800, f/4, 1/2000th
3. ISO 3200, f/4, 1/2000th. Sandhill cranes (and three geese) in the following early morning--when the full moon was still too high in the sky to include in the background.

Nice shots, but somehow I like the 3rd most.

I a with Doc. I love the third most. The second one was interesting but looks more like a vignette
of the scene than the effect you captured which is a skein of geese against the Moon.
With best regards,
Sury

I like them all, J.D.
I think 1 & 2 could pass as stills from an old horror or murder mystery movie!
