Good thread idea Henry :)

I like Henry and the Doc's fishing shots. Very interesting break water in Henry's first shot.

Here is some larger scale fishing equipment. Fishing nets drying under the August sunshine in Stornoway harbour.

Wow, lots of great photos! Keep 'em coming!

Don thinks he's hooked a lunker in East Texas, 1978. Turns out he lost it though. We were in a boat on a small lake and I had put my fishing rod down for a moment and picked up my camera to take a photo of some lily pads in the water when suddenly this happened. Really lucky to catch that expression on his face.

Probably only about 20-30 minutes later I caught the largest largemouth bass I have ever caught. It was about 6 pounds, which is pretty good. I still can't believe that I don't have a photo of it. On the way home I stopped by my cousin's house to show it to her and ask her to take a photo of me holding it with my fishing rod. She took a couple of photos and then the next day went to San Antonio with a friend. About a week later I asked her about the photos and she said she had changed her film in San Antonio and left it sitting on a bench. Photos lost forever. Maybe someone found the roll of film, got them developed, and there is a photo of a much younger me smiling and holding my bass in a box in someone's closet right now.

Great thread Henry, and some really good fishing and fishing related photos already.
I haven’t been fishing for a good while now, mores the pity, because as you know any time spent fishing is not deducted from ones allotted span. (A fisherman told me that one, so it must be true)
It must be problematic trawling with nets around those waters Birma what with all the wrecks littering the seabed, the orange net seems to have a hole that needs fixing, probably after catching U-581 or something similar, nice shot btw.
How come you were able to get a photo of his possible fish (and reaction) but you didn't get him to take a photo of your real fish Henry?
Greg

Just a scene from the prawn trawler warf area.

Nice shots JB, Mike, Henry and Greg, and some good fishing stories from Henry - the one that got away :)

Love the clear, blue-sky feel in those shots Mike. Great action shot with the 'gator Henry! When I first saw the shots I thought your friend's expression was due to the fact the second shot was connected to the first :)

There is something very photogenic in fishing boats Greg. Not sure why - in some ways its just a bunch of rusty old machinery, but there is something about it. Perhaps some cultural memory about the dangers involved in making your living at sea.
