I was sort of afraid you'd say that
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Thanks. It was shot with the 70-400G.[/quote]mvanrheenen wrote:
Nice.
Now one of those was being considered for my shopping, although a MkII version has just been introduced and I think there is a supply issue in the UK.

Re: Flowers 2013
I got as far as ordering a 70-400 G mk I and then Wex couldn't fulfil the order as the stock dried up. I will wait and see if the mk II comes down in price a tad.
I like the purple flower Sury, but could you pump up the exposure in PP a bit, and perhaps pull up the blacks/shadows? Nice soft background.
I have been a long time fan of the Orton effect but didn't have a way to achieve this in Lightroom. I have just bought a Plug-in (Enfuse) which allows the combination of pictures. Here is an early attempt.

Always love helping an new GAS affliction along sury
The 70-400G is a superb lens if you are prepared to spend and carry the bulk/weight. I don't always are, so have a 70-300G for those occasions. Not in the same league on build quality, but close in IQ.

Re: Flowers 2013
Now that I know a tad better, I am wondering if I should take the Sigma 200-500 sitting on my
shelf for a ride. I know it is a slower lens, but with such bright days, it should not matter
much is what I am thinking.

Re: Flowers 2013
Shouldn't that be the Tamron 200-500 sury?
I only use the G's for flowers because I have them mounted when I come across the subjects.
I used to have a Tamron 90mm macro for that kind of work, but sold it because it was gathering duat instead of light.
The missus has the fantastic Olympus 50mm macro on her m4/3 system. It does 1:2 magnification, but is absolutely the best macro for flowershots. That lens just has no fault whatsoever for a macro.

Re: Flowers 2013
Very nice composition Sury, I think Birma's tweak would defiantly help.
Birma, I like the Orton Effect especially on the Monkkwood Oak. Seems
to work better with more colours.
Superb shots Marcell & Mark.

The humble daisy. I like them so much that I often mow the lawn around them, just as my much loved late Dad used to

Beautiful picture Pat - I love that - the green, yellow and white combination of colours are lovely and the 'painterly' background is great.

Ah! Yes. My mistake. It is Tamron 200-500. It served me well but does notmvanrheenen wrote:Shouldn't that be the Tamron 200-500 sury?

see much use. It was a birthday gift from the missus and that is one of the
reasons I am still hanging on to it after adding 70-400 to the arsenal.

Re: Flowers 2013
I am with Andy on that one Pat. I certainly am learning a thing or two about composition these days.
I would have missed the "painterly" aspect of background had Andy not pointed out.
With best regards,
Sury

Back on topic: personally I really enjoy all those 'paintery', 'bokehy' and 'softy' images. Seriously good work all of you! Sharpness and contrast are so overrated

Re: Flowers 2013
I eventually managed to figure out how to use the 1:1 converter that came with the Vivitar lens.
Here is one and because the setup was hand held and I was outside with breeze, I chose to go with
high speed and use flash. I am planning to go back again and use my tripod and macro slider and take
some for stacking. Hopefully I can get those flowers to "stay still" and not use flash.
With best regards,
Sury
