I like that first one espesh Birma, very striking, what’s the hazy look on the right lowish? was the sun getting on the lens or filter or something?

Nice set Andy. I love how the "haze" (in the positive sense) and the sharp elements blend.

I was trying a poor man's attempt at high key that Richard has been posting albeit without success.
Then I was fooling around since I had 58 in wireless mode with 20AM driving it, here are the results.
Normally I would have had the entire flower lighted, but in this case, I was having the IR beam from flash
light up the flower to focus lock and shot. Because of this, the flash was more "grazing" the top of the flower
rather than light it up. Learned to play with light at the minimum. So much for high key shots.

Thanks Greg and Sury.

Yes - I think some flare there Greg - it was the best compromise I could come up with, but I didn't mind too much :D .

Interesting experiments with lighting Sury :)

Birma

Agree with Greg that meadow shot is excellent love the light on it. Taken early morning, or late afternoon?

Sury

Talking of light really like the tulip shots. The only minor point i would make is that I wonder if number one would be better as a portrait format - excluding the two bits of flowers at each end?

Sury, this is the nice thing in experimenting with the light that you may have unexpected new and still very nice results. I like your tulip photos.

Recently I shoot everything in the same way. Rim lighting. I hope you're not yet bored. Few recent photos I've just taken before work:

Nice pic's again Burma.

Still on flowers, really I am. But what is it?

Image

Edit, Really nice pic's there too Sury and Marcell

They dropped through whilst I was having a spot of bother with the board not recognising the size of my image. I don't know why for a repeat using same worked. :?:

Thanks Caporip :) It was about 30 mins before sunset.

Marcell, a wonderful set of flower portraits as always!

Excellent crop Sury. That is a great improvement.

Darn it. I made it too easy, but well matched Birma

this one would have been far too easy

I like the second, quarter circle, one as well Lionel :)

More meadow flowers from me. First some orchids in the shade.

Next, bands of light falling across the meadow as the sun sets. I think the orchid in the foreground is perhaps too central. Buttercups and Green Winged Orchids ,mainly.

A special lighting in a layer when the light surround the subject. It!s used for portrait but I also like it for macro photograpgy. Last year I developed a DIY rig for this purpose. I think I posted it before:

This is the new version:

Marcell,
Thank you. You did post your DIY before. I got confused. I always referred to it as ring light
and that's why I did not make the connection.

It's a kind of ring light but not typical. The direction of the light is different and it makes a big difference.
The typical ring light would result in a soft, well lit photo without structures or 3D feeling.
