Obviously scenes from the Artic! Love the light and shade across the snow.

Re: Exhibit your B&W shots
Hi. I'm a semi professional photographer living in Edinburgh Scotland. I've Been a Minolta user for decades and then like others switched to Sony. Loved my little NEX 5N for a year or so and had little hesitation in getting an A7 when it was released near the end of last year..
I don't often shoot B&W but I've getting back into it with my A7. These shots have all been taken with that camera and the kit zoom.

My contribution is a macro of a snowflake. there was not much color on the original photo, so I converted it to BW:

Hi Möbius and welcome to the forum. Great pictures as your first post ! As Marcell says, the castle is very dramatic but I love the shapes and textures in the second. Looking forward to seeing more from your A7 and the Nex.

Ken, excellent contrast in the frozen shot.
Mobius, nice shots. I especially like the castle picture with the cloudy sky.
Marcell, I love the snowflake shot. What was your setup?

That snow flake shot is amazing Marcell. Difficult to believe there is so much detail in something so small!

Re: Exhibit your B&W shots
Hi Mobius - that's a great Edinburgh Castle shot, and you must have had the A7 fairly early after release - I was shooting in and around Kelso on the day we got that sky over Scotland, I was walking around just staring at the sky for half an hour as it passed over - using the A7R. I didn't convert any to b/w but also, there was no good foreground to speak of and no great light - we got the sky around 2.15pm. Loads of other people saw it in different places over the course of about three days but one day was so much more dramatic than the others.

Re: Exhibit your B&W shots
Very nice shot Philip with a great B&W conversion.
Hope you and everyone else down there are coping. It looks very bad from all of the reports on telly. A far cry from the lovely family beach holiday we had in in Cornwall in August. What a contrast.

Nice capture Phillip. I hope everything is ok. Do I see some noise in the sky or is it my monitor?
