Re: Exhibit your B&W shots
Nice Whistable pictures Richard. Interesting shop where you can buy drift wood and clothes for dogs
Thank you Doc and Sury .
Doc, I haven't altered the camera itself. I just use it in the 'Nightshot' IR mode (I believe this involves the IR filter being flipped out from in front of the sensor). Nightshot mode restricts shutter speed (1/30th I think) and aperture (F2.8 or thereabouts) so it would normally be totally blown in daylight. I have an adapter that allows ring filters to be added and I use a strongish ND filter and/or a Hoya R72 IR Filter. In the right conditions it produces very nice IR images. There is a nice tutorial here on using the V1 and how to process the images.

It is a great shame that Sony did not continue developing this feature. I understand that there was a fuss about the cameras' ability to apparently see through clothing in some circumstances and this seemed to put an end to it. I will eventually get around to having a Nex or Alpha converted for IR, but the V1 is fun for the rare occasions that the the sun shines in the summer .
The V1 (and subsequent V3, which I think Yildiz had) were technological marvels. IR night mode and laser guided focusing with 5 Mp sensor! Review of it here http://www.digitalsecrets.net/Sony/SonyV1Review.html .

Oh boy, some great shots in this thread!
This is a family in Lake Charles, Louisiana with big platters of crawdads for dinner. They were sitting at the table next to us and I asked to take their photo.

Thanks Doc and Sury
The two whitstable shots are for a project called Whitstable365 which as the name suggests is designed to show in photos a year in the life of whitstable with emphasis on the people or more unseen aspects on the town, My photo of Jo and her stall was as you guessed posed and she was more than happy to do so (and pleased with the result i might add) Whitstable is both a busy fishing harbour and also now, with these hut/stalls, a bit of a tourist trap.

Henry, you stir my appetite. I still have to wait for 1.5 month for our crayfish. I may find some in the market, but the real tasty ones are in end April till June-July.

Great shot Doc To balance that high contrast shot here is my high key (ish) tweak.
There was so much fog, I thought it would lend itself well to high key treatment.

Crawdads, a monastery and misty boats - more great B&W shots, and a nice selection of different styles.

How are they eaten in Armenia? In Louisiana they boil them. They eat the tail and then suck the guts out. When I eat them I just eat the tail.Dr. Harout wrote:Henry, you stir my appetite. Re: Exhibit your B&W shots
Very inspiring b&w shots everyone.
I believe we saw Henry's shot when there used to be a food-related thread a long time ago.
Thanks for sharing,
Yildiz

Henry, not much differs here, except that we use some spices in the boiling water.bakubo wrote: How are they eaten in Armenia? In Louisiana they boil them. They eat the tail and then suck the guts out. When I eat them I just eat the tail.
I do as Louisiana people do, eat the tail and then suck the guts out , but some just prefer the tail.
Oh, and we consume a lot of beer/ale, after all we are in its birthplace (see Xenophon's Anabasis, though I'm sure you have read it).
