Thanks Sury :)

Well Henry, definitely not your typical Roman column - glad you had the coin in the picture for scale :)

That coin is fairly large, maybe about 3cm in diameter. I am pretty sure this helped Roman women looking for a good time to find it. Just follow the Roman column  in the direction it points. In other words, it is Where The Boys Are.

I haven’t managed to keep up with this thread either, (I don’t do any traveling), I saw the yellow field at last Birma with the stately tree, very pretty.
And interesting old structures and ruins from early days, I was wondering how some of those get into a state of ruin and as usual most of the write ups don’t tell you that but I did uncover that there was a major earthquake in 17 something or other offshore from the Volubilis ruin so that might explain how an otherwise preserved Roman town was in a tumbled down state. And some dignitary also previously took a lot of stoneware to build his own palace in the area.
It seems those Romans were a rather social lot, they didn’t seem to suffer from any embarrassment from public nudity etc. they even had open air public toilets apparently, along with the baths.
They sure did some amazing construction work though.

Nice shots Henry. Here is one from St. Michael's cave in Gibraltar. I put the camera on the ground and put on 2 sec timer.
1.3 sec exposure.

Good one. It is a bit disorienting. Are you looking straight up with the camera?

What I was very surprised by was the amazing views over London there are if you look away from the race course. While in London I've never really thought of it as being very flat, and so I was surprised that this sort of view of the City, with its iconic sky-scrapers (note below the Shard), existed. I've never seen this view represented before, although this is a very popular view point (and golf course!). I grabbed these shots with my Nex while passing :) .
Yes, you've got a nice view of London from there.

Thank you Andy. Here are couple from a small town called Paestum near Solerno. These are Greek ruins and I am told this is not a very popular tourist place.

Interesting shots Sury, nicely taken. Those ruins turn out to be very old when you check up on them and were probably in much better condition before the Wehrmacht held out in the area for a while.

Thank you Andy and Greg. It is true. My colleague who recommended them was claiming
that they were better preserved than those in Greece. I took his word for truth since I did
not visit Greece (yet). A fascinating place indeed. I am glad I made the trip. That turns out
to be one of two not so typical things we did on our Italy trip. The second one being climbing
to the rim of Mt. Vesuvius.

Good Morning Everyone, it's been a hell of a long time (a couple of years I'd guess) since I posted anything here but that doesn't mean I haven't been visiting and it also doesn't mean I haven't been shooting - still with an Alpha and the A900 is still in my bag but it's second body to an A99 now which is what these were shot with.

We've just come back from a trip to Tuscany, specifically Lucca where we rented a villa in the countryside. Here are some of the sites from the immediate vicinity (and one from outside the apartment we rented in Rome).

BruceKingston,
Those are amazing shots. I was watching about Lucca only yesterday on Rick Steve's Europe, a very popular
travel show here in US. Welcome back.
