Re: Landscape 2014
On a recent wet weekend we all went to visit a formal garden managed by the National. Trust, Hidcote Manor. It is a fairly famous garden for People who like gardens like this. I like the flowers etc. and the cake shop . No flowers in this shot, but I liked the view along these manicured trees and through the gate to the countryside beyond.

Re: Landscape 2014
I was out to my favourite meadow this morning. The Green-winged Orchids have given way to a carpet of Common Spotted Orchids. For me this is just about as good as it gets . It was cloudy at dawn with a few spots of rain, but this made for an interesting sky. There are a lot of other wild flowers in the meadow, it is just the orchids are a bit more special as they are not found as frequently, and certainly not in these numbers. I am also posting a close-up in the flowers thread.

Interesting order of trees lining the path leading to the meadow, Birma.
The orchids look marvellous in such a vast scale...Good that no modern cultivating procedures were applied that would shy off the orchid growth. Hard to come by such preseved some countries therefore you're lucky

Thanks Yildiz
The bigger trees are mainly oaks and are probably the remains of old hedgerows. The smaller trees are the remains of an orchard and are mostly apple trees. The nature conservation group that own the field are also planting more trees in the meadow which help the bio-diversity and, of course, more interest for passing photographers .
It is very sad that there are so few meadows like this left. (Greg and I were discussing this in the flower thread.) Hopefully I will get around some more of my local ones in the next few weeks while the flowers are at their best.

It's a wonder some cattle or sheep don't wend their merry way into that sumptuous looking field there Birma. It's great to see they have been able to accomplish the preservation of such places and that one in particular, it does look rather special.

Hi Greg, hopefully no sheep will break in. I agree that it would look pretty yummy to them. There are some Roe deer that seem to sleep in the meadow. I've seen them on rare occasions and you can see where they have been lying, normally under the trees.
In late summer, once the flowers have all seeded, they cut the meadow for hay, and then graze a few cattle over the meadow in the autumn and winter. This is the cycle of management that preserves the meadow it would seem.

Still not sure if this is 'Flowers', 'Landscape', or neither!

Standing room only there Birma. I still like the previous one best though.

Here is another view of the meadow from the weekend. I like the sun coming over the hedge in this corner of the field, and the rich colours of the grass and flowers.

Thanks, Henry and Sury
'Manny Brodo'? Not heard of that one, Sury. Even Google has failed me . The closest I could find was a photographer called Manny Librodo? You'll have to tell us about it now
