This image was captured last weekend at a local shopping mall.
I had gone to the mall with the goal of capturing some images of the architecture and lighting inside the mall., which I happen to find rather interesting. I saw this scene and could not resist a very, very quick shot.
It was probably taken much too quickly, as I did not want the kids to be aware of the camera, and I gave the camera essentially zero time to focus. Given how immersed they were in what they were doing, I probably could have used an 8x10 view camera without them noticing, but I shot without thinking of that possibility.

Taken with my NEX-6 and Sony/Zeiss 24mm f:1.8 e-mount lens.
Shot without flash at 1/60 second, f:4.0, ISO 1600.

Re: While Mom is shopping at the mall
There are occasions I’d love to see what would happen if that (totally unrealistic) show ‘Revolution’ came true.
Good grab shot Tom, a sign of the times.

Yeah, you could have taken your time with the shot. They were totally oblivious to everything and everyone around them.

Henry,
Your Zombie Apocalypse is very prophetic. I heard on the radio that there is an increase
in pedestrian accidents due to people stepping off the pavements while reading and sending
texts and not paying attention to on coming traffic.

Yes, this happens. I have seen people almost get hit in Waikiki while stepping off the curb while entranced by their smartphone. Last year we were over by the University of Hawaii in Honolulu at a bus stop and just watching the cars go past on the rather busy road. Along came a young woman on a motorbike driving by in the traffic. She had one hand on the handlebar and the other hand held her smartphone. She was engrossed in the smartphone and I could see her thumb busy texting. She wasn't even looking where she was going or aware of all the traffic around her. She was going probably 25mph.sury wrote:Henry,

Dusty,
Sounds harsh but so very true. I can't imagine the heart ache of the near and dear
when you have a completely avoidable tragedy befall, let alone one's own physical
and emotional suffering.
Anyway, I do not want to hijack Tom's thread. My apologies Tom.

However, your statement did give me an excuse to mess with your Point Cabrillo thread.
