Big Bend Sunrises

The kids and I arrived at Big Bend late in the afternoon, after the stores there closed, and we were low on ice.. I set out early in the morning to the store that opened first, some 40 miles from our campground to get ice for our food... It was very hazy, and the light beckoned me, so I brought my camera along, and took a few shots along the way.
Enjoy

Those are very nice.

By the way, how is camping at Big Bend in August? I was on a backpacking trip there for 3 days/2 nights in March 2005 and it was in the high 90s then. Very hot.

Thanks Henry... It was pretty warm, upper '80s and lower '90s.. We had one day of rain, and it was a bit cooler then, but a lot more humid.. Ugh..

It was a 40 mile drive... I should have made that clear...

Very nice sunrises. That looks like a hot day looking at the first one.

John, I really like the layered look of the hills from the haze.

Oh, these are just perfect shots!! Loving especially the first and second because of their graphical 2d nature. The third one reveals a little too much shape, but it's awesome shot as well. Very nice and different from usual sunset and other sun pictures. :-)

Thanks everybody! These were some of my favorites from the trip. My one regret on these shots is that I didn't do a pre-trip inspection of my camera.. It took me a long time in PP to get rid of all the spots in the photos..

Those are stunning views. Really good captures and excellent compositions. I love that area. I spent some time in Terlingua near Study Butte years ago.

Fabulous light and layers of the hills - great stuff John. The drive was worth it even without the ice :) .
