Hi Jeff;

Awesome. Calling it a 'sunset' may even be undermining this fabulous scene; more like a volcano reactivation / eruption, caught in the evening sun. It's much better than the visual effects they use to create an apocalyptic scene in film-making: no after-effects, no post processing, no software editing.

I remember a few nights up in those mountains. Did you eat any guinea pig? I had some in the stew, along with lots of noodles. The Quechua people are very warm blooded - shake one's hand and you'll notice that. They also have hearts and lungs that are 1/3 larger than normal to make things easier up in the high altitudes. And the strangest language. Somewhere on my book shelf is the Quecha - spanish New Testament I picked up in Areiquipa when I was there.

Haven't eaten guinea pig yet, but hopefully I'll have my camera with me when I do and get a couple of good shots of that skinned rodent before I eat it. The nightly temperature was dropping just below freezing and the babies crawled around the cement floor of the church barefoot and a few of the adults and older children wore sandals without socks. As far as the language goes, I've heard it's similar to Chinese and there have been reports of Chinese tourists in Sucre, Bolivia that had a limited communication with the Quechua there. Although I personally can't verify the stories, they are somewhat circulated even here in Peru.

Just last week my daughter read something on Cameron Townsend, who translated the NT into Quecha. I was therefore required to go dig it out from the bookshelf. My daughter now wants to add Quecha to her list of languages to learn! First, however, she has to get thru the Portuguese that we paid Rosetta Stone for!

Beautiful shot, Mark. Where was this in Nepal? I presume it is still Nepal.
The beautiful blue waters turn grey just a short distance. I am wondering
why.

I finally have something I think is good enough to post with you folks. We went to my brothers place in southwest Min. this weekend. I finally got the camera out for the first time in maybe a month. We went to Redwood Falls and this in one photo I got there. Hope you folks like it. If not lie Ha! Ha!

Great colors, Ken. No lie.
Two observations: One is that I am not getting the feel for the height of the falls.
Either it is a false fall, or perspective fail.
The second being the top right hand side is overblown. If you can recover that and blend
with original, it would be more impact-full. Just my $0.02.
