Is that some kind of an amphitheater, Jeff?
Nice contrast with that blue sky.

No, but it sure looks like it could be one. It was terraced for agriculture by the Incans years ago. It is really just a bowl in the canyon. The river enters and exits it through two very narrow canyons. Here's another picture of the area. 11mm wasn't really quite wide enough but it's as wide as I have.

These aren't really landscapes but I'll include them here since they are from the town Yangue where the terraced photo was taken. This is one of those being in the right place at the right time shots. I was walking around the town and as I walked into the shadow of the wall I realized that I could easily find the right spot to stand and get the sun shining through the opening. You'll notice that in the second, more zoomed in picture, that I actually was able to capture in the camera the little known fact that our solar system has two suns. :)

Great captures there Jeff. As for the second Sun, I do get double of more than just Sun,
when I have couple of single malts in me.

 I don't remember dropping my camera into any of the local chicha and since I haven't partaken of spirits in the last 20 years, I'm not sure what to make of it. If I see double, it's just because I'm not all there I guess. :)

Andy,

Those dawn shots are superb.
I missed a superb sunset on Monday night as I was playing with my new monitor and didn't see the steadily improving orange glow in the sky. Went last night just in case but it wasn't as good. Will put on later.

Great photos you have there. I cannot decide which I like best so I'll call it a draw. That looks like a special place for sure.

 In my case, I would be dropping my camera into spirits after I had them IN me. :D
Hmm. If just half of you seeing double means it is a four fold effect. Impressive.
Never the less thank you for taking these comments in the right spirit. :)

Hey folks lots of great photos here. This is one I took this spring o a trip to South Dakota. Nothing real dramatic but I kind of like how it came out.

Nice treatment, Ken. I am trying to figure out the background.
Is that a flat sky with few clouds or thick fog with couple of peaks
peeking through.

No peaks around here. We are flat as a pancake until you get to the western part of the state. It's just the sky.

Thanks Mike :) . It's very frustrating missing a great sky. I was sitting on the train tonight admiring an amazing sunset and frustrated it wouldn't last until I got home.

I like the subdued colours on that one Ken. :)

The active volcano Sabancaya as seen from Yanque. I was able to get some pictures of it with a great blue sky behind it, but the smoke wasn't at nice. This shot by far has the best plume.
