Hi JBTaylor;

The vertical shot of the vase of roses is especially good. I like the colours.

Hi Jeff;

The Larspur with its exceptional colour, stands out but actually, there's quite a lot of different species around that place: succulents; cactus and the like. Nice place to wander for photo shoots.

Hi Sury;

The lilies in the second shot are so nicely framed that the Golden Spiral is clearly visible in a pattern-forming way, on all blossoms.
Had you entered the challenge, we might have had a tie between yours and Andy's entry. : )

Thanks for sharing everyone,

Thank you Pitter, Yildiz and Andy.
Yildiz, I am blown away to be mentioned along with Andy,
one of the zen masters of bokeh, IMHO. :D

With best regards,
Sury

Hehehe :) thanks, Sury.

I do often like the blurry bits more than the sharp bits!

Once in a while in the past I bemoaned the fact that my CZ24f2 was collecting dust. So yesterday
I decided to do something about it. Put it on camera and give it a whirl. Thanks, JB, for the recent
conversation on bokeh. That inspired me to get off my behind and do something about it (not withstanding
how poorly I do. :lol: ). I did try to warm up (#1 and #3), curious to know if you warm up to it. :)

2 and 3 tend to reflect my sensibilities when photographing flowers. I always look to the space around the subject and try to get to a place where the background has very few objects in it. Big objects are better than small objects or a space that has many small objects like a bed of mulch (very distracting). Whatever that is to the left side of image #2 is less desirable than the plant material in the bottom left of image #3. I also tend to like background blur more than foreground blur. Once again, that's just me.
I think your Zeiss 24 f2.0 is similar to the Zeiss 35 f2.0 that resides on the RX1. I have yet to get the bokeh that the 85 and 135 deliver.
Nice work.

Fantastic flower shots JB and Sury. I love the shallow dof you guys are producing.

Birma,
I can still recall your work when the balance of sharpness and bokeh was inspirational. Been away for a while but your work is not diminished by my absence.
For the group, you can see the bartender's right arm pouring a drink in the background on the glass image. Sometimes things just come together.

JB, Jeff, Thank you for your kind words.
JB, I see what you meant by blurring the foreground. It was not intentional. Where I was standing, the most
logical place was to focus on the second one and that caused the foreground blur. Good observation. Something
to keep in mind.
Also, did you forget to attach an image per chance or are you referring to one of your previous images?

Aah. The wine glass. I take it the bar tender was wearing white. I see what you mean.
Perfect placement.
