Autumn Crocus (Colchicum autumnale)

Meadow wildflower. The meadow is still looking surprisingly green and lush due to the damp and cool summer we have had. I haven't seen these growing there before. It feels a bit like a reprise of spring!

I was trying to use the shallow dof to give the impression of the stamens hiding in the flower and 'peaking' out from behind the petals. Not sure if I should have the closest petal in focus?

Ken,
Home computer provides better results. It did freeze when it came time to scroll on the first try, but then the rest of the page appeared. All is good. You have a distinct style and I like your approach. I don't see subjects in the same way but would like to learn how to do it anyway. I know that I would benefit.
Birma,
Can't answer your question but I do see what you were trying to do. I wonder if you could keep the same background and still get that first petal in focus. Regardless, the background is to die for.

Andy,
I like the way it is very much. Anything sharper in front of the intended object is bound to distract - me thinks. :-)
