Human Statues or "statuas humanas" are a common entertainment in Colombian cities. This guy stood stock still for long periods and from down the street I thought he really was a statue of a fisherman in front of a restaurant.
When we got up to him my son dropped a two thousand peso note in his bucket and he gave us a wide-eyed smile and said thank you in English.

Re: Human Statue
In the background of the first shot, what are they selling?
Re: Human Statue
They are selling fresh fruit and maybe something like "cholados". Those are made by putting crushed ice in a large plastic cup, pouring a sweet raspberry syrup over it them mounding cut up fresh fruits and finally topped with a very sweet cream with grated cheese sprinkled on. Anything cold is good since Cartagena is very hot. There seemed to be venders selling the like on every street in the old city, sometimes several.

I can only imagine how the "statue" feeling with black stuff in hot weather.
I am sure the second one would scare a child away scampering.
