Thanks Sury. Right now I'm exporting the lot into smaller jpeg's for creating a timelapse. Once that gets done, I've got a couple of others to upload.

What SW are you using for your time lapse? Just curious.

I'm using Corel Video Studio Pro x8. However, I'm not real excited about the mp4 codec. It tends to wipe out details in some of my time lapse projects. I'll post a link to the timelapse when Vimeo is finished with it.

Here's another shot from earlier in the night.

Love the stormy atmosphere - a time lapse would be great! :)

Very nice Time Lapse movie, Jeff. : ) Well done!

Honestly, I'm impressed with the outcome, because although you say some neat details are wiped out, the movie tells a spectacular story of a stormy night.

Thanks for sharing,

Thanks Andy, and there's a link in my previous post to the time lapse.

Yildiz, thanks for your comments. Actually this particular timelapse turned out better than some. I have one where a stationary object that was in the exact same spot in every frame turned into mush during the rendering. That doesn't make sense. I really do not know why it happens sometimes and doesn't happen other times. But it seems to happen more often than not. A different program with a different codec would probably do better.

Great time lapse, Jeff. Often it is the alignment focus point. It may have aligned to another stationary point and that can render
what should have been sharp blurry. I see that quite often in my Panoramas and stacking.

Thanks Sury. I'm glad you like it. By the alignment focus point do you mean auto focus picking another area or the camera pointing somewhere else? I do all time lapse with manual focus on a tripod. On top of that, in the individual photos used, these issues never exist. The smudging and smearing are created in the mp4 rendering. Also, if I choose a different codec, like the AVI for example, it comes out much sharper, but also much larger in MB's and not able to be uploaded to sites like Vimeo or Facebook.

I should have been clearer. I meant to say the time lapse software is aligning to a different set of focal points than I intended it to try. That's why I have noticed ghosting. But you weakened my argument by saying you use tripod. :-) (al)most all my shots are hand held.
The only "time lapse" I did was about 30 frames of the Monterey Car crash. I got about 1 sec worth and it wasn't worth the effort.

Ok. I see what you were saying and let me also add the fact that I'm more than pleased to weaken your argument. :) It always does something for my ego when I can weaken the opposition. :D
