Revival of my A100

Unread postby sury » Fri Jul 17, 2015 8:18 pm

Which has not seen the light of the day ever since I bought A700/A900 in 2008.
What pleasure to handle a light weight body and smaller file sizes. I bought a
Minolta 100mm/f4 autobellows unit and unfortunately it does not fit on my A900
(with the rail). Since my A700 is with my brother, I dusted off A100 to test the lens.
I am thinking there is a learning curve associated with the lens based on my results
so far. This is a stacked image using Zerene Stacker.

Very nice photo!

We still have my wife's old A100 packed away in Texas. My A700 is there also along with a bunch of A-mount lenses.

Some more samples. These are hand held, single shots.

Nice to see your experiments with the Bellows lens, Sury. Very handy sounding device.

I also sold my A100 some time ago. The view finder seemed hideously dark and narrow after the a700, let alone after live view or the A99. It was a neat camera though, and it was the one that brought me to this site and got me hooked on photography, so I have fond memories of it.
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Thank you Andy.
I should have sold it when I got A700/900 combo due to an oversight in placing the order.
I was hoping my daughter would pick up photography but she never did. I experimented with it
yesterday with A700 and things seem to go lot better, not to mention I am getting a hang of the lens.

The a100 is no slacker. Were you using the bellows with all the photos? Just wondering about that lovely one with the tree specifically. Anyways, nice shots.

Jeff,
Every one of the photos in this series is with bellows including that big tree. That one is called
Lone Almaden Oak and is protected on that knoll. No homes to encroach. I live in a neighborhood
called Almaden Valley in San Jose, California. Almaden is home for Quicksilver county park where
they used to mine Cinnabar (Mercury ore). Mercury is used in processing gold and records indicate
the mercury mined here was used to process gold that was used in American Civil War.
By the way, the place is named after Almaden mines in Spain.

With best regards,
Sury

I don't know for sure Sury but by the looks of it I think you have a great handle on the new lens. They look great on my puter.
