My friend and I were at Huntley Meadows last Saturday and he came upon a guy who was excitedly calling a friend about a dragon fly larva climbing up a piece of wood and undergoing a transformation. After taking some pictures of a turtle and a frog (it wasn't pretty), I came upon the scene and stayed for about fifty minutes. Here are some pictures.
1. Green Eyed
2. Wings Unfurling
3. Still Extending
After almost an hour, we left a really excited dragon fly expert. Apparently, we happened on an event that isn't widely seen (at least in daylight). He told us that the people around the dragonfly kept the swallows away. A good thing. Thanks for looking.

It's the music of the old Godzilla movie. Next year I'm planning to dive in this pond to take better pictures.

Luckily they're just few cm long. Otherwise they're scary fast predators.
