Must admit that I had prepared myself to see some green fields and maybe tulip shoots or narcissus covering hill sides, somewhere close to your golf courses, but here we are looking at some of the nicest winter snow scenes...

Not shot in B&W but snow sure turns the scenes into such scenes. We didn't have snow this year, therefore, I appreciate the fresh snow scenes very much... Memo may be thawing somewhere to get back on the road. USA indeed had a long and harsh, snowy winter this year. We watch from the news. Hope Spring Equinox gets back on track for you out there.

JB, now you're going to force me to shoot some of shots of what's coming up at home!

My wife actually has some great shots of the apricot blooms from our tree shot on her i-phone.

We get to start anew on all that as we are soon moving.

Thank you both for commenting. It was a fun exercise. The shots with the Tamron were taken with one hand as I was holding the umbrella with the other.



The rest were taken from inside the car, making sure that the snow was blowing in the other direction.

Here's a scilla or squill - this is at 1:1 scale with the 100mm Sony (ex-Minolta) A-mount macro, on the LA-EA3 adaptor, on A7RIII using a Neewer 48-LED ringlight (which does continuous or flash at fairly low power). For macro shots I now set the A7RIII to ISO640, which is a setting giving raw file quality equal to ISO 200. This helps the low power light work well. 1/160 at f/13 (=f/26 with this lens at 1:1).

Beautiful subtle surface details show as the light hits on the translucent petals and the colours are wonderful.

Indeed, the bigger photo is much more impressive.
