Absolutely gorgeous flowers and bugs, Ossie. :)
They all fit the thread concept; we love just about anything related to flowers, bugs and gardens here.

Thanks for sharing,

Last weekend together with my partner and friends I visited the Sir Harold Hillier gardens and arboretum in Hampshire. Magnificent gardens and beautiful weather. The gardens are now run by the local council. Here are a few images from the day.

The lens I used for all the images is the SAL16-80 CZ coupled with the A77. The lens is now getting long in the tooth but imho still delivers excellent results.

Ossie,
That SAL1680 is good. My entire Brazil trip was done with that lens and 70-400. Thank you for the info.

And the flowers the predators:

Sarracenia purpurea

Insects fall to the bottom of the pitcher, where fluid accumulates, in which a whole community of bacteria and mosquito larvae lives. They not only feed on insects that are trapped, but also serve for the external digestion of sarracenia, supplying it with substances that it needs for life. To get out on the slippery surface of the trap pitcher the insect cannot and becomes prey. The plant, in principle, does not feed from the soil; it takes everything it needs when digesting insects and, as a rule, grows in swamps.

ValeryD, these flowers are fascinating!
The wild orchids are beautiful and the carnivorous ones are intriguing. By the way, I didn't know that mosquito larvae could actually survive in the sticky/slippery fluid at the bottom of the pitcher. If the larvae can survive that, then that's quite a resilience and danger for humans living around.
Beauty can be intoxicating…

Thank you, Sury. :)

Indeed, it's a much faster camera with more pixels that leaves more room for choices, as in post-processing as well. As probably is everyone's concern with big files, processing can slow down the computer, though.

Very lovely Gladiolus specimens, Sury. :)

Beautiful colours but I think the flash creates some harsh, dark shadows… Just a tiny view of mine, because your outdoor, daylight shots are always good. :) The closeup details of the blooms are very good, though.
