Great site Richard - love the insects, landscapes and sea scapes especially. You have a lot of nice b&w. Would you mind sharing your b&w approach?

Thanks guys

Birma - sorry for the delay in replying I've been on holiday in not so sunny Cornwall. Which B&W shots do you mean?

I shoot everything in RAW and in colour then process using elements. The black and white flowers are shot as normal and then i max contrast and adjust black level to isolate flower I then play around with highlights/shadows to retrieve detail.

Sorry to hear Cornwall was not so sunny. Have some friends who took 9 hours to travel home from there yesterday - post holidaty traffic

I had to go back and check which B&W shots I liked especially :o - it was the bales, although all are very good. I want to have a go at B&W and I will try your approach.

Hi Richard,

The new additions to your gallery with the 70-300SSM are bright, sharp and vivid in colours. Also the subject matter are very nice indeed. The Ferrari and all... :D
One positive mark for this lens. A700 and 70-300SSM make a good pair together.

And congratulations to your son for coming into the Alpha world. The camera and him suit eachother very much...

Thanks for sharing

A900 shots!

Unread post by caporip »

Its Arrived!

Took it round the harbour today and have posted a few shots on flickr. Unfortunately Elements and camera raw do not recognise A900 files (yet) so haven't played around with them just used the sony software to convert to JPEG. I love the handling of the camera and its all vey familiar after the A700 which I'm keeping btw.

Congratulations Caporip. I look forward to more of your A900 shots. Harbours are very photogenic places.

Congratulations as well to the Doc and Sonalta who are now Viceroys - wow. I think this calls for big hats with a lot of white feathers?
