Hi,
I feel like I'm coming home! My first camera was a Minolta X300 back in the mid-1980s, and now, after deserting to a Nikon FE2, then to a Mamiya RB outfit, and then a Canon 1ds, I have finally returned to the fold with a A900. In the spirit of Michael Reichmann's recent Quality vs. Value article, I have no intention of switching again anytime soon.
One of the first things I did when I started was join the Minolta Owners Club (I think that was what it was called) and David was kind enough to publish an image of mine, which proved to be the inspiration I needed to make a go of it as a freelance. I tend to concentrate on landscapes and general travel stuff, mainly in Scotland. I used to shoot a lot of close ups with a Tamron 90mm and hope to be doing the same again soon with a Sony 100mm.
I've never been a prolific poster on any forum, tending to have more questions than any knowledge to impart but I will try and help where I can.
It's snowing outside and there is a chance of some sunshine this afternoon, so I'm heading out for a while. Bye for now.
David

Re: Hi from Scotland
Good luck with the freelancing David! I think I see plenty of your stuff on Alamy, if it's the same DR.

Hello David,
Welcome to the forum.
Exactly what I was expecting to see since I read your introductory first message early on, for all Davids of the forum aligned to form the Davids'-Front...

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
DK - yes, the DR on Alamy is yours truely. It's been going well this last two years but who knows what will happen in the coming months? We will see.

An a700, an a550 and couple of a580s, plus even more lenses (Zeiss included!).

Welcome to the forum! From what everyone who owns an A900 says I am sure you will like yours a lot.

Thanks Dusty and bakubu.
I've just exercised the credit card again this morning on a Sigma 12-24mm - which is entirely DK's fault!

Re: Hi from Scotland
Hi DavieR, welcome to the forum. I very much enjoyed looking through the photos of Scotland on you site, revisiting favourite spots of my own. It was great to see some CalMac ferries. I must admit to becoming a bit of a ferry spotter when on the West coast. One of my favourite areas not represented yet on your site was Orkney. So, perhaps we can look forward to some A900 images from there ?
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Thanks for the welcome
Orkney is just one of the many areas missing from my portfolio. I won't be going there this year, but maybe next.
First day out with the A900 today. Very, very happy
