Hello from southwest France

Unread post by Daved »

Hello all!

I have been lurking here for quite sometime now, but registered only this past week.

I started photographing with my 7000i (I was a teenager) and stayed with Minolta and then Sony ever since.
Right now, I have an Sony A700 (as well as several Minolta film bodies), with a bunch of lenses (too many really) that I acquired mostly those past 3 years (thanks/no thanks to dyxum and other forums ;)).

Photography-wise, my main points of interest are macro, birding, landscapes and the likes… (subject to change with season and mood) but always look forward to try and learn new things. On the work side, I am a software developer and work with a software vendor.

I hope to learn and share here..... so nice to meet you all!

David

PS: my user name on dyxum is dd001 for those who happened to be there too :D

My theory is: You can have too many lenses but never enough.

Isn't that the truth!

Tell us, Dave, what does a collection of too many lenses consist of?

David, welcome! I bought a 7000i in 1988 and it was my first AF SLR. I still have it, but haven't used it in many years.

Welcome Daved. A very interesting gallery which I have only skimmed through so far. I really like the picture of the Asian Hornet's face, a very tight frame of the right top corner of the horent's "face". Fantastic stuff.

EDIT: Doh! Just noticed that this is your avatar picture - so you obvioulsy like the shot too!
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Thank you all for your warm welcome! :D

Thanks Dr. Harout, nice to see you here too! And glad I could help with your problem...

I like that statement and it really applies to me... :D

Hehe, the problem is that I buy like crazy but never sell (or give for that matter :D )
KevinBarrett wrote:Tell us, Dave, what does a collection of too many lenses consist of?
Hmm, it is probably subjective, but trust me, I do have too many :D (20+ lenses that I don't intend to sell right now, and another 10 that I will eventually let go)

Again thank you all!

My wife is alright with my six lenses for the moment, but what she doesn't realize is that this time a year ago I only had one.
