It's all Greek to me!

Unread post by David Kilpatrick »

Sony owns the first letter of the Greek alphabet now, in the world of photo equipment. When will we eventually fill out the entire list from Alpha to Omega?

Alpha - Sony camera line
Beta - the version of your software which is even less reliable than final release
Gamma - filched by photo science to describe the contrast curve function
Delta - Ilford film technology
Lambda - Durst digital photo printer
Mu - Olympus camera series branding
Epsilon - the between the lens shutter made by Wray
Sigma - a well-known lens and camera line
Omega - enlargers and cameras

Help fill out the list!

Added! Omicron was also a brand name associated with Beseler, I think for their own enlarger lenses or perhaps one of the enlargers. Someone will have to help me on that.

How about a
Zeta photo laser printer by Agfa-Gevaert and Durst, they claim 1,178 unique 8X10's per hour.

Unread post by osquar »

Hi,

I believe Minolta had a compact camera model Dimage Xi. Does it qualify?

Cheers.

Lateral thinking - I like it. My vote is that it goes in.

I don't know if this one does anything for you, but they do make cameras.

Definitely! It's a camera, and not one jot else :-)

Revised -

Alpha - Sony camera line
Beta - the version of your software which is even less reliable than final release
Gamma - filched by photo science to describe the contrast curve function
Delta - Ilford film technology
Epsilon - the between the lens shutter made by Wray
Zeta - Agfa-Gevaert/Durst colour photo printer
Theta - Durst digital printer
Iota - the IOTA Occultation Camera http://www.iota-es.de/ioc.html
Kappa - http://www.kappa.de, maker of miniature CCTV type web-cams
Lambda - Durst digital photo printer
Mu - Ol*mp*s camera series branding
Omicron - enlarger/groundglass focusing finder and brand name used by Beseler
Xi - the Minolta suffix for Maxxum/Dynax models using the Creative Expansion Card system and compatible with power zoom auto zooming
Sigma - a well-known lens and camera line; Durst's rollfilm scanner; a Fuji film-grain technology
Rho - Durst large format inkjet system
Omega - enlargers and cameras

And I had Epsilon in the wrong place - typical minus minus semi-moron behaviour on my part, thinking of Upsilon.

List them all maybe

Unread post by Greg Beetham »

I was thinking, what about listing the entire rest of the alphabet and just leave a blank line to the right of the letter, perhaps, and fill it in if something becomes available.
