Sabrina sells us a B&H projector

In this 1959 ad Sabrina is selling us a B&H slide projector. I don't know who Sabrina is and I don't know why B&H chose her for the ad. It is an eye catching advertisement though. I guess those ad men in the 1950s knew something though and must have had their hard to fathom reasons for choosing Sabrina... :-)

Hmm, it just hit me, maybe Sabrina was going for the Jayne Mansfield look? But, why would B&H care about that for a projector ad? Hmm, I wonder....

I suspect if Sabrina is still alive she is not so perky now. :-)

You know, I have been pondering this a bit more. I wonder, who was the target demographic for this ad? Did the 1959 ad men even have one in mind? Was 1959 advertising still more art than science? The point or points are rather dull or abstruse, don't you think?

Hmmm, could this be a cryptic reference to the 3-D craze of the 1950s? They used dual projections. Just a thought.

My first thoughts were the 1954 movie Sabrina with Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn and William Holden but of course Audrey was no Jane Mansfield.

So perhaps the lawyers got involved and to stop the directors and investors involved in the movie suing them, they had to change the "look and feel" of the ad ?

Who was the target demographic for this old Miranda ad? It is just so perplexing...

I am pretty sure that these days they could make Audrey resemble Jayne:

Gentlemen, we can rebuild her. We have the technology. We have the capability to make Audrey into a Jayne-like bombshell.

Yashica also seemed to have some target demographic in mind. It is all so confusing though.

Obviously, they wanted Mom to buy the big camera to take shots of the kids, and Dad the sneaky little one to take shots of other girls when Mom wasn't looking!

Here's an Olympus ad from 2008. :) Probably Korea. The faces don't look Japanese, I think.
