:-)
Well David, I don't think I'll be ready to pay the European price (in pounds!!!) anyway.
I already have one of this lenses, but it doesn't want to work on the maxum 7 (contacts are clean, batteries full...)

Surprisingly often, owners of non-working AF-xi lenses just fail to realize that the AZ/MZ switch has been set to MZ---which means "manual zoom". The narrow ring at the lens' front rim (which looks like a manual focus ring) actually is the manual zoom ring in AF-xi lenses.

Check your MZ/AZ switch ... and push it to AZ if it's set to MZ! Of course, if it is set to AZ and the lens still won't zoom then obivously it's defective indeed.

Oh!
that already happened to me, last time the past weekend while I was visiting my brother in Boise ID, I got a second of panic and then find out what the issue was.

With the Maxxum 7 the lens just dont focus (but zoom)

I got the lens yesterday, Tried it on the 7D, A700 and Maxxum 7. Works properly in all the cameras -now I can try it with film!
