Forum search question

Unread post by bakubo »

How do you search for something like Minolta 24-105? Whenever I try a search like that or 18-250 or 70-210 I get a message like this:

No posts were found because the word 24-105 is not contained in any post.

If I just peruse the posts though I can find some with those terms. What's the trick to get search to work?

You can not search using a hyphen, it's a search condition operator and therefore can not be part of a word.

Use this form of search terms:

+24 +105mm

This will instruct the system to search for posts which must contain BOTH the words '24' (this can not be searched for on its own, as it is less than 3 characters) and '105mm'.

Click the Advanced Search option to see how this works, but you do not need to use the Advanced box, it's good enough just to enter the above in the standard search box.
