Need A Solid Build Quality Walk Around Lens.
I am looking for a new walk around lens to replace my 24-105/3.5-4.5 Sony. I considered the CZ 16-80 but after reading up on it I would rather invest more and get a solid lens. Does anyone have suggestions on a solid wide aperture walk around? Perhaps 16-35? F2.8? I am also considering the purchase of the 35/1.4G. I would like to hear what you all have to say!

You didn't get much response in November perhaps because the 16-105mm is similar to the 16-80mm in build, and the 18-200 and 18-250 are essential Tamron, though I find all of them fine for general use. The 24-70mm will be wonderful but you pay for what you get.

Thanks David. I learned after purchasing my Sal-70-200/2.8G that you get what you pay for and that lens is (to me) worth every penny I paid for it. I just hope the CZ in question will prove to be as valuable to me. As of right now I use the 70-200 over 90% of the time for portraits and action shots.
Have a great day!
Re: Need A Solid Build Quality Walk Around Lens.
I've had the opportunity to own both the sony 16-80Z and the 24-70Z. After receiving the 24-70 last week, I ended up selling the 16-80 on eBay.
With relatively superlative optics, I had some misgivings about the 16-80Z's build, as well as the slight distortion and vignetting at the wide-end. Really, these were minor inconveniences that are easily overcome. After my 28-75 (D) went down, I searched for something to fill that gap (e.g Sony 16-105).
Haven't had a great deal of time to test my 24-70Z. My initial thoughts, after 400 pics, are that its focal length and FOV prove to meet my needs as a walk-around lens. More so, than the 28-75. Anyway, like my 70-200G, it's a well built lens w/ SSM.
Kind Regards,

Looks like I will be purchasing this lens in the next week or two. I am really hoping for the build quality of the 70-200G.
Have a great day!
