Here's the list of colour films available in DxO. I feel a scientific analysis of the results of each of these films on 'the kid on the wall' coming on at the weekend (a picture I posted in another thread), if only to satisfy my own curiosity . However, there's so many its going to take me a while to do lol.

No, films don't generally have a distinct red / browny tinge.DrScottNicol wrote:What I have noticed is that if I use the film pack to alter the colours, many (not all) of the available film settings seem to have a distinct red / browny tinge. However, I don't have enough experience or any examples of photos actually shot on the real films to really know why this happens..
1) The films generally did have this hue
2) The type of shots I'm processing aren't particularly appropriate for that type of film treatment
3) DXO just gets it wrong .

perhaps I'm overstating / misdescribing the 'red issue' as I've reprocessed the same image across 11 renderings and only a couple have taken on the red / purple tinge I was describing. For example, here's the default rendering..
compared to Agfa Ultracolour 100
The other renderings are here, although for some reason picasa wont render the images at full size the way it normally does..

I was talking about film, not what DxO produces. It does look like this example has a red cast.DrScottNicol wrote:Bakubo

I'm glad you're still enjoying the lens Dr. Scott. I hope you'll remember what a good deal you got on it when the new 16-50/2.8 SSM comes out! I might have to pick your brain about DxO some time--I found myself giving a convincing pitch to a friend about LR3 but I wanted him to consider DxO, too.

Great that you enjoy your CZ 16-80. Just wanted to chime in with support for the Tamron 17-50/2.8 in case others are interested. I find it to be an excellent lens all-around, and find it to be an outstanding value for the price. I love it on both my Nikon D90 and A700. My friend loves it on his Canon 40D.
