Sony 11-18mm and Cokin

Unread post by cosmonaut1959 »

I just got in a Sony 11-18mm and have also ordered a 77mm ring for my Cokin P holder. I have the wide angle holder. Does this combo vignette any? Also has anyone stitched Pano shots taken with the 11-18mm? Is there a lot of distortion wide open?

Fortunately the 11-18mm has a good distortion profile at 11mm and distant focus. It should make good stitched pans. If you have the Cokin P a/w holder, it should be OK, it's supposed to work with 17mm angle of view lenses and that's more or less what this is.

Hi Cosmonaut - I have the Tamron 11-18 which is pretty much the twin of the Sony version. Mine vignettes on a Cokin P WA between 11 and 13mm. I sort of have a long term plan to go up to the next size up (Z or 100mm) on the Lee system, but I have good results mimicking Nd grads in PP so I'm not in a hurry.
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.
