The Sony mount version doesnt have the VC image stabilisation yet costs the same as the Canon mount, which does! You'd think it would be cheaper.
Have you had a chance to get your hands on one of these yet, David - would be interested the hear your thoughts. It sounds like a real alternative to the Zeiss and possibly better if the Photozone review is anything to go by.

I have been looking a Tamron, and the Sony version costs £5 more than the Canon and Nikon models (on Amazon; the same elsewhere). I put the difference down to economies of scale. I imagine the Sony version sells in far lower numbers than the other two.
